{ THE HOTEL }

My husband, mother in law and I recently visited The Lodge Torrey Pines. This AAA Five Diamond rated resort, located in La Jolla, was just wonderful. It has a cozy, craftsman lodge feel, with our connecting room suite overlooking the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course. If you are ever in the San Diego/La Jolla area, I highly recommend spending a couple nights here to unwind, eat at the famous restaurant and enjoy some golf!

{DINING}

A.R. Valentien: This restaurant is located in an indoor/outdoor dining room that overlooks the 18th hole of Torrey Pines Golf Course. It has consistently been rated one of the top restaurants to dine at in the area for years. We had the benefit of being able to eat breakfast here. They have a great variety of choices, of which I chose their famous Bull’s Eye, which is the slow roasted eggplant, sunny side up eggs, La Quercia Prosciutto and Tomato sauce. My mother in law chose the granola and husband had their poached eggs. All were just delicious!!!! The menu also changes constantly according to the season, which I love. It keeps me interested in going back and trying something different each time.

The Grill: One night we chose to have dinner at The Grill. It’s their more “casual” dining establishment on premise, although it’s still very cute and cozy. You can choose to sit under the heated lamps outside or inside. We sat in a booth inside, as it was a tad cold in the evening for us. We ordered the little gem Ceasar and Ahi Tuna Carpaccio to start. For entrees we had the Grilled Tri Tip, Ruby Brook Trout Amandine and New York Strip Steak. They bring out some homemade chips and sauce that is really AH-MAY-ZZZING!

{GOLF}

We did not go golfing, but it is worth mentioning that this 36-hole facility owned by the City of San Diego is one of the more iconic courses in the world. They actually were in preparation for the Farmer’s Insurance Open that they do every year while we were there. This golf course is apparently also the site of the 2021 US Open Championships. Find out more here about their golfing packages.
